Born to pioneering parents, Black-Punjabi singer Judi Singh was a fixture in the Edmonton jazz scene from the 1950s to 1970s, yet her legacy is largely forgotten. Vancouver filmmaker Baljit Sangra shines a spotlight on this unsung artist’s life and musical journey.
I had the great pleasure of working as the Director of Photography on Baljit Sangra’s feature length documentary film, commissioned by the Knowledge Network. We premiered at DOXA Festival in May, 2025, and later screened at Reel World Film Festival, Vancouver Asian Film Festival, Edmonton International Film Festival, among others.
