India is a place where everything can and does exist. Sacred Peepal trees adorned with garlands of marigolds share the road with shiny new electric vehicles, rag pickers sorting garbage, feral cows, families of 5 sharing one bicycle, towering skyscrapers shading ancient shrines. I’ve been going back and forth to India as long as I can remember and it’s both completely transformed – we grew up without electricity and now wifi in the Himalayas is faster than in Canada – and also maintained, in essence, the same timeless magic.
This is a collection of mountains and moments captured in and around my home in the Kullu Valley, and from my travels in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
